There are some people in this world who seem to have been born to care for others. They have a deep-rooted affinity for seeing to the physical or emotional needs of individuals. Does this sound a lot like you? Even if you’ve only recently discovered how much you enjoy caring for others, you can take that passion far by choosing a career that gives you the opportunities to make positive impacts on each person you contact. Here are three highly rewarding career paths to look into:

Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

Speech language pathologists provide treatment to children and adults who have physical challenges or learning disabilities that affect their ability to communicate.

Workplace: Many SLPs work in schools, but are also found in hospitals and penal services; some are self employed.

Training: Master’s degree plus licensure and certification.

Physical Therapist

Physical therapists help patients of all ages to literally get back on their feet again by helping these individuals with injuries, health conditions, or disabilities to improve or regain mobility.

Workplace: Hospitals, outpatient clinics, or private physical therapy practices all employ physical therapists.

Training: Post-Bachelor’s degree from an accredited physical therapy program plus licensure and certification.

Travel Nurse

Travel nursing careers help make up for nursing shortages by giving nurses national and international assignments for a specified amount of time to perform the essential care duties of a nurse.

Workplace: National and international hospitals.

Training: As required for nursing plus one year working experience in your chosen specialty.

love with the chosen field. It’s essential to find a career that you enjoy – after all, a majority of your time will be spent at work. Look at the tips below to help you find a new career.

Turn your hobby into a career. Do you have something that you do on the side that you love? For example, are you interested in the stock market? Consider a career to trade Forex online. You’ll be doing something that you are passionate about, and still making money.

Volunteer. It might sound counterproductive, but volunteering can actually open up all kinds of new doors for you. Volunteering helps us find what we truly enjoy. In addition, those you network with while volunteering could help you land your dream job.

Go back to school. Many people, even those with well-established careers, go back to school to study a new subject. Interests change as the years go by and going back to school may help you hone in on those subjects you really care about. Moreover, education in today’s economic climate is always a plus.

Get a part time job. If you think you may be interested in a particular field, like marketing, but you still need your full-time job, you could find a part-time or freelance job in marketing to see if you really do love the field. Sometimes, we just think we might like a career change, when the reality is that career isn’t interesting either. Some part time work, while you still have a full time job could help you decide.

Looking for a new job can be a full-time job in itself. If you are between jobs, it heightens the pressure of finding a new job sooner rather than later. When you add an emergency to the situation, due to an unexpected expense, it may send your stress level through the roof. Rather than panic and take your focus off your job search, consider some of the options you have for accessing cash:

Payday loan

Savings

Borrow from someone you know

Payday Loan

If you or your spouse has a job, one option is a payday loan. A payday loan allows you to borrow against your future income. Online payday loans make this process even easier because you can apply for, receive approval and even receive the money all online—without ever having to leave your home or office computer. Repayment of these types of loans can also be handled online to ease the overall borrowing and repayment process.

Savings

Another source of cash for an emergency while you are searching for a new job is to use the money you have in your savings account. Of course, this option does require that you have a savings account. It also requires that you have enough money to cover the financial need. The downfall of this option is that it may deplete your savings, meaning you won’t have cash to fall back on if a new need arises.

Borrow from Someone

You could also borrow money from a friend or family member to help you through the financial emergency. You should treat this as a formal loan by putting it in writing and repaying it as you would any other loan.

Career planning should begin early in life so that as much time as possible can be spent living the dream life. Why waste time working toward a job that is not fulfilling and causes each work day to feel like drudgery? Unfortunately, most school-aged children do not know what they would like to do for the rest of their lives. A parent may want to have a doctor in the family or expect their children to take up the family business. These paths may be acceptable to some graduating seniors, but the majority of people do not have any idea what direction they would like to take their lives.

A guidance counselor is one of the greatest tools for a high school student. By administering personality tests, the counselor can help the student determine if he or she should open a small business or live the life of an abstract artist. Different personalities are better suited to different careers, and the counselor can suggest paths that are geared toward that student’s personality. For instance, the counselor may know of specific colleges that offer hands-on learning or schools that provide a streamlined path towards graduation. They may be able to offer advice about scholarships or Plain Green Loans to help students finance their educational goals.

Parents also help their children create a dream life by encouraging them to do something they love. Parents can help their teens find extracurricular activities to support a future career. Volunteer activities in their church or community help give teens real-world opportunities to experience what a potential future job is really like. Starting young to find your ideal career is the easiest way to live the life of your dreams.

We’re taught at a young age that after a good education we’ll have great jobs and happy lives. Then they say, “Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.”

First off, they don’t teach how to find a job we love, they just teach how to find a job. Second, how do we avoid finding the job we hate? And what do we do if we hate the job we already have?

Don’t quit the job, that’s not the first step. In fact, that’s one of the last steps, so buckle down and be good at the job until another one is found. The first step is deciding what kind of job would bring fulfillment and hopefully benefits as well.

Have the Right Perspective

Truthfully, the only way to find what someone really loves to do is to try many different things. For parents, the need for income is often greater than the desire (and energy) to find different work, so maybe a change of perspective will do.

Sometimes job satisfaction has nothing to do with talent, hobbies or other likes/dislikes, but it could turn out that we love one aspect of our job. Like a love of cooking and working with the public, or maybe a love for talking on the phone.

Often, people can find one thing about their job that they at least like. Get through it by looking forward to doing that one aspect.

Concentrate on that until another job can be found, but don’t give up looking for the ‘right‘ job.

It is hard to deny the value of networking in business. Networking is the art of leveraging connections for increased benefits, whether job opportunities or social advancement. Interestingly, the impact can be negative when it is done incorrectly.

The Art of Networking

In the era of social networking, it is easy to create lots of ‘network noise’. This refers to random efforts of friending everyone on Facebook or sending invitations to random people on LinkedIn for example. Fruitful networking calls for being selective as not every contact will be a good fit for you. Once a contact has been made it is necessary to maintain that contact, otherwise your efforts will be in vain.

With employment opportunities dwindling in some areas, good networking connections can improve prospects. The right contacts can provide introductions to people needing your skills.

Being successful at networking calls for doing a few things right which include:

Sharing information. If you are part of a group don’t keep quiet; offer advice when you can and share information that can help other members. This will help to establish you as an expert in a particular area.

Be honest and authentic. If you are perceived as genuine you are more likely to gain information and leads.

Offer to help when you can, even when no reward is offered. In many cases, you may be the first point of contact when paying jobs come up.

People who are successful at networking keep on learning. They listen actively and get involved in what they are doing. They understand the value not only of contacts, but more so, the value of having the right contacts.

Celebrities influence fashion quite a bit. Do you remember Cybil Shepherd bright orange tennis shoes that she wore to the 1985 Emmys? For years after that, people made it a point to wear tennis shoes with dressy clothes.

If you are still not sure how much influence a celebrity can have on what people wear, think about the recent royal engagement and wedding. Prince William gave Katherine Middleton his mother’s oval blue sapphire engagement ring, and the demand for copies of that piece of jewelry soared, just like they did when Diana first wore it.

Some jewelry companies made true replicas (containing real sapphires and diamonds, in the exact weight and carat) available, while others offered smaller versions. And, of course, you had the knock-offs that were sold online or through network shopping channels.

Need another example? Beyonce Knowles, along with her sister Solange, has lent her name and her body to the Dereon clothing line. Both she and her sister have designed clothing, including Dereon shirts, that are now available to everyone. They both take fashion risks and wear clothes that are suitable for their size and their style.

If you are thinking that you cannot afford Dereon shirts, think again. Depending on where you shop, you may be able to afford one of each style of shirt, because the prices are very reasonable.

No matter the trend, finding affordable, trendy clothes is not a difficult task. The difficulty often comes in finding one’s own style and creating looks that work best for each individual.

The first step in securing a job interview is the resume. When an employer has 100 candidates competing for the same position they do not have time to read each resume submitted in detail. Be sure your resume is clear, concise and professional.

A resume should be one page. The employer does not need to know every position you have ever held or every activity you have participated in. If you feel you have valuable information to expand on, expand on it at the interview.

The resume should have details on how to contact the applicant. Name, address and phone number suffice. A personal introduction should be short and to the point such as: Always welcome new challenges and work well under stressful situations.

Image via Wikipedia

The work experience section should list the previous three jobs held and brief descriptions of the responsibilities for those positions. If you feel there are certain responsibilities that would be beneficial to the position being applied for, highlight those. It is more important to highlight what you have learned in previous positions than where you have worked.

Education should be listed as where it was attended and what degree was obtained if any. Any specialized classes that pertain to the position being sought may be listed briefly.

Most resumes do not list personal references. This takes up extra room and can be provided at the actual interview. Personal references take up space and most employers do not want them unless you are a front runner for the job.

Provide a clear, concise resume without a lot of extra details and get the interview!

Being in charge of a family means being able to take care of more than just yourself. If you have a spouse and children, it becomes necessary for you to consider their needs, and often to put those needs before your own. When you run into financial difficulties, the options available to you for taking care of them can differ because you can’t simply put them off or worry about them later.

Dealing with Family Financial Emergencies

Financial emergencies come in many shapes and forms when it comes to a family. Medical bills, home repairs, plumbing repairs, auto repairs, loss of a job, and a number of other financial emergencies can suddenly impact your family. When you run into such a financial emergency, you may suddenly find yourself trying to find the best forms of financing so you can get past this obstacle and move on with your life.

One of the options available to you for financing is payday loans. This is a type of emergency financing that allows you to get money quickly when you are between paychecks. This means you can get the financing you need quickly and easily, and then you simply have to pay the money back the next time you receive a paycheck. If a financial emergency should happen to strike when you are between jobs or between paychecks, the next thing for you to do is find an emergency payday loan that will allow you to deal with your financial obligations so you can move on with your life.
